Major road traffic accident victim category on Sri Lankan roads is pedestrians. There are many reasons for high pedestrian casulaties. Pedestrian behaviour, pedestrian facilities, law enforcement and driver behaviour are some of those. The attached photograph is a good example on all effect of all th eabove factors on pedestrians safety. Here the pedestrain is trying to get in to the bus on a pedestrian crossing while that particular bus is trying to overtake another bus parked at pedestrian crossing to pick passengers.
