Objective.
Present  Road Safety Audits in Mexico, promoting its implementation and explaining its simplicity, prove that road safety audits is a critical tool that helps improve road safety and thereby reduce road traffic accidents and deaths.
Material and methods.
The workshop design of road safety audits includes specific topics such as: road safety history, geometric design, human factors, surfaces, vertical and horizontal signage, containment systems, among others. Participants must meet a specific profile and work in organizations related to road safety, urban planning, road infrastructure, road maintenance and related areas.
The workshop includes materials which contain major publications and research as the Austroads Road Safety Audit; Ogden KW Safer Roads, Road Safety Audits Guidelines, FHWA, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide. In addition it includes videos specifically assigned to each topic, presentations and material in electronic file, which are all provided to participants. The workshop lasts 40 hours.
Results.
Among the multiple courses conducted in various states of the republic, have received more than 70 audits conducted both on urban and rural roads, school zones, dangerous intersections and cruises, etc. ..
Discussion and Conclusion.
Road Safety Audits offer the opportunity to solve infrastructure challenges in a  very effective and inexpensive matter. The final reports are sent to the responsible authorities to address the possible risks. In order to be a road safety auditor, a specialty in engineering isnt required, for the members of an audit team are coming from multidisciplinary backgrounds.
