Objective 
The need in Capacity building for injury and violence prevention in Lithuania is significant − injuries are the third leading cause of death. The first capacity building workshop using WHO's TEACH-VIP curriculum was organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with WHO in Trakai, Lithuania on 24 September 2009. A total of 25 workshop participants were policy makers and university staff from disciplines such as public health, health policy, psychiatry and nursing. 
Materials and methods
22 modules from the Core curriculum and the Alcohol and violence module had been translated into Lithuanian and were used to give participants an introduction to the kind of material available for incorporation into teaching curricula. Lectures were followed by group work and to all participants a CDs with these materials were delivered.
Results
Participants made the following recommendations for the next biennium collaborative activities between the MoH and WHO: 1) the remaining modules on TEACH-VIP should be translated into Lithuanian; 2) workshops on training the trainers should be held in the next biennium. Participants from the 3 main universities of Lithuania agreed to incorporate lessons from TEACH-VIP in their curricula.
Discussion and conclusions
The course was rated as apropos, timely and actual, the workshop materials were found very useful. There is high policy support to incorporate modules of TEACH VIP in the curricula of public health, nursing, pedagogy, social work etc. Training materials are being integrated into modules of public health, safety, child and youth health, healthy lifestyle.
