Personal submission e.g. How would attendance at the safety 2010 conference help you to improve the prevention of injury and the promotion of safety in your locality?	Safety is a word almost elusive in the part of the world i come from. People are exposed to hazards day-in, day-out ranging from domestic hazards e.g scald burns to serious hazards like road traffic accidents causing severe burns,traumatic amputation,crush injuries to say a few. Being an intern has made me come in direct contact with such victims on first hand at the casualty. As the first-hand contact,i tried putting to bare the the basic resuscitation techniques i learnt in medical school but which seems not adequate because i had on two occassions lost my patient which i felt if i had possessed more basic skills in handling such emergencies,it would have been a plus to averting such mortalities.Daily, precious lifes are being lost due to seemingly avoidable factors but majorly due to our poor safety culture. I believe if afforded the opportunity to attend Safety2010, i will be better equipped to handle on-spot emergencies,and also, through educating(commuinity campaign and enlightenment)the people of my locality as regards conditions such as overspeeding,reckless driving,using of mobile phones while driving etc that lead to such life threatening situations will in no small measure make life more pleasurable and lives more valuable,thus,making our world a safer place to live in.
