I am a final year Medical Student in Nepal,a country ravaged by domestic violence and war for the last 12 years whose repercussions are certain to be felt for a very long time to come.Nepal is also the poorest country outside Africa and recently a failed Nation.With fragile governments changing everytime Social security is far neglected.It is also a mountainous country with rugged terrain,worst roads,sparse communities and virtually no trauma hospital in the country!There is no safety at road, home, work, hospital, park and everywhere!Government has never prioritized the safety issues nor the school curricula lays any emphasis in it.Injuries are virtually always preventable and correct and timely management largely decreases morbidity and mortality.Illiteracy is a seriously genuine issue which has compounded the problem in Nepal's contest.In about a year after I graduate,I and some of my friends are planning to initiate a massive campaign in rural nepali villages educating the people about injuries,their impact,how can they be minimized and how to react immediately and offering them the instant care when needed.We are planning to spend about 3 years in about 20% of nepal's villages before we return for our higher education and are currently working out on it.Also All of us are passionate to do our residency in Emergency medicine. So I hope Attending this conference is truly a giant milestone in my professional,social and academic life.
