Personal submission e.g. How would attendance at the safety 2010 conference help you to improve the prevention of injury and the promotion of safety in your locality?	I am a doctoral student focusing in public health and economic evaluation. My main focus of study is intimate partner violence (IPV) and violence prevention. I am planning to submit an abstract on the economic burden of IPV for my native Ecuador. Participating of the conference will allow me to meet the WHO health economic experts and other researchers from around the globe to later disseminate their findings and methodology in my country. I came to the US to purse my graduate degree, but have full intentions to return to Ecuador or other countries in Latin American. IPV and domestic violence continues to be a pervasive issue and a constant human rights violation. However, public attention and institutional interventions is needed to continue the dramatic spread of violence in Ecuadorian households. Ecuador as many other Latin American countries is suffering of increasing incidence of violence in many levels of society. Much needs to be learned about how to prevent it, and specially methods to intervene. By participating of Safety 2010, I hope to learn from the leading researchers in the field on the causes, and leading theories. I am extremely motivated in working in violence prevention in my career, and fell participating of Safety 2010 (my first time), will be a unique and milestone opportunity to launch my career.
